Did You Buy Online at Walmart (or other store)?
I got a call with the voicemail message beginning: – “your Walmart purchase – did you make the purchase”. Someone might be tempted to call and say that no online order was made. That’s what they want you to do. At that point they will do one of several scenarios.
They might ask you to give your credit or debit card number to confirm the payment that was made. Then they have your card number to do what they want.
They might ask you to get on your computer and go to a website which might put a virus in or cause the computer to shut down, then ask for a ransom payment to get it back.
They want you to call so they can scam you in some way. They know you did not order anything from Walmart, but they call so many numbers to prey on your emotions so to be scared of a charge made or if there is a problem with an order you did make.
Check your bank or credit card accounts to verify if you were charged for any Walmart purchase – you would not see any, so you will know it’s a scam.
