If You Cannot Shred
Sensitive information needs to be shredded or cut up strategically so no scammer puts it together.
If you cannot shred documents and cards, cut them up anyway.
When I have a document, like old car registration with VIN, credit or debit cards, or application offers, etc., I try to shred them. If I can’t (like debit or credit cards), I cut them up strategically.
When I cut them up, I alternate the information so matching information isn’t next to each other. I make sure my name and address are always chopped up so I can separate the crucial information. I have two sets of information now – none of which complete a number, address or name in the same pile.
I put the unrelated piles into different areas – one might go into the trash while the other goes into recycles. For credit cards or such that can’t be recycled, or if no option of recycling, I put that pile to go half into the trash and half into next week’s trash.
I refuse to have a scammer put the pieces of my life together to complete an application or order a new credit card or have my car information. Scamming is ever prevalent, and I try to thwart their efforts as much as I can. PR More Articles to Stay Safe From Scams Need to do Shopping? Need a Lawsuit Advance?
