Don’t Post or Broadcast Your Trips
When you go on vacation or out of town, or even out to dinner, refrain from publishing it to social media. Even if you trust all your friends, the information can follow down the feed of the social media posts, and when people comment or react to it. You have just made it clear your home is empty, and someone would now they can break in. They have an idea how long you will be gone so they know how much time to spend in the home. Don’t post your trips on social media or anywhere on the Internet.
I don’t even post on social media when my husband is gone – so it’s not obvious I am alone in the house. I might say something when he returns, or not mention it at all. Even if you have a live-in caretaker while you are gone, it puts him or her into a precarious position of bad people not knowing this, and can get entangled in a burglary attempt, if you post your trips.
Wait until you return to post your trips or share photos. Your trip will be better if you return to a secure home.

Don’t post trips on social media. If you do, people realize your home is unoccupied so it’s a good time to break in. Don’t mention when you are gone.
