I Was Sent an Uber Code
I got a text with a code for Uber – on a phone not registered to any Uber account.
The scammer is counting on you to have an Uber account on your phone so they can get into your account or verify your card number tied to the account (then having access to the card).
If you have no Uber account on that number, then the scammer might want you to reply to let them know they got a wrong number. Never reply to a “wrong number” text, as it will let the scammer know there is a live victim at your end and can spread your number to other scammers. They also have an opportunity to convince you that they made a “mistake” but throw you another pitch to scam you with.
In any case – if you get such a text (of any kind of wrong number), just block and delete it. There is nothing for you to be gained by replying. PR Need a Lawsuit or Insurance Advance? Shopping for Something? Self Improvement and Health?
