IF is a Key Word
My dad would call me to tell me he won a lottery or won a sweepstakes or won something.
I would ask him to text me a photo of the document and I always saw the word “if” – as in, “if you are selected” or such. “If’ is a key word to look for and not a sure win.
“If’ is an important word to look for in such documents to realize you have not won anything yet and might still be in the running (though still likely a scam anyway). No matter how the document reads, look for the “if” and any other language that clues you in that it isn’t a win. Some of the documents have said “You Won” then the “if” in small print right after. These winner scams often want a bank account number to deposit those winnings into, or an “administration” fee to cover the cost of processing you, or something like those, all to scam you (having access to your bank account or taking such fee from you and just keeping it with no intention of processing anything).
Always look for the “if” or some sort of similar wording – most of these notices of winning are not a win but a further placement in the process that is always a carrot on a stick that keeps going further but never gives the carrot. More Scam Articles
