No Statute or Law for Fb to not Share Photos

Facebook has a lot of posts (they seem to come in waves) declaring some statute governs media to grant you total control of your photos. So, people declare that Facebook has no right to use their posted photos.
There is no such statute or law that prevents Facebook from using your photos. When you signed onto the platform, the fine print allows them to use your photos. They own the platform and make the rules, as with all apps and media.
It is concerning and scary – social media in general gives too much information to people running them. If the government wants what they have on you, your information might be given up.
If you are worried, get off that media, or do not post anything you don’t want stolen or passed on. When signing up for an app, put as little about you as possible in the sign-up process as you can get away with.
In any case, you need to realize that once the posts and photos are out there, it’s fair game for anyone to use. Screenshots can be taken, whether by the owner of the media or by random people seeing your posts.
One of our groups got a stern warning from Facebook that they will pull our group if we let child photos in the group because it can be used in child exploitation. Many posts of a child’s face have been used as a fake “missing person” with a plea for money to fund a search, for example. Children's faces pulled off media have been used in modeling shots. Please don’t post your children (in identifiable photos - put a meme over the face or block the face another way) on social media.
Shared or screenshot photos can be used nefariously. You cannot stop your photos from being used, whether people or scenes or anything. There is no law or statute preventing them from being used.
