AI Receptionist Has a Lot to Learn
I called to make an appointment for my car, and I got the AI (Artificial Intelligence) receptionist. Every question I answered it said “got it” but never confirmed what I said.
It asked so I explained what was needed to be done and it said, “got it.” It asked me when I wanted to bring the car in and I said Monday Wednesday or Friday. It said Monday is a holiday so look at Wednesday. It asked me if I wanted morning, afternoon or evening, so I said morning. It asked about several available times and I said 7 am. I asked me if I want afternoon or evening and I asked if that meant when I would pick it up. It asked if I was going to drop it off and I said yes. It asked me if in morning or afternoon or evening. I said I already said 7 am in the morning. It seemed to drop the issue.
It asked if I need a Lyft scheduled – I said I need to know how long the work would take and it went on and on over that. I finally asked to speak to someone. After a while I got a real person and confirmed everything (AI forgot one piece of work). I asked how long and he said 3 hours – which was helpful to know to figure if I wait it out or get a Lyft ride home. He apologized for the AI receptionist and said it will get better as it learns but certainly not with my experience. To tell the truth, I’ll never fully trust it because it messed up enough that I had to verify what it put out. I'll always confirm with a real person. PR More Tech Articles Have Shopping to Do?
