Check out how well suited you are to running your own business – if you get a really high score, you are likely to succeed in running your own business. If you score low, you should rethink your hopes of making it in a business of you own. Either way – you will have to have or learn certain skills, such as how to market and how to effectively advertise, how to compel people and talk to them, how to read people's moods and react to them. In any case, see how well you do in the quiz. Answer with a 1 if you disagree, and answer 5 if you totally agree. Answer 2 if you are more likely to disagree, 4 if more likely you agree, and 3 if you are truly in between.

  • I know a lot of people – friends, professionals, business people.
  • I am willing to accept both financial and career risks as needed.
  • I don't need the benefits that the corporate businesses offer.
  • I will take full responsibility for all my failures and successes.
  • I want to feel financial success in my business.
  • I feel a lot of pride when I complete an assignment well.
  • I will do something even if people are knocking me down for it.
  • I stick with my project goal, no matter how difficult or the obstacles.
  • I am trusted by others – people feel I can be trusted and I'm reliable.
  • My skills are better and higher than most of the people I work with.
  • I can perform even in ambiguous situations.
  • One of both of my parents ran his/her own business.
  • I understand very well how to run and manage a business.
  • I need to work at positive results even if it takes extra effort.
  • I make decisions quickly.
  • My family will support this effort.
  • I am willing to work 50 hours/week or more regularly.
  • I will have more financial success by running my own business.
  • I have a high energy level and can keep it up.
  • I like making my own decisions and controlling my work, prioritizing.
Add your scores and see your score. 80 or more gives you a good chance of making it as an entrepreneur, 60-79 shows a satisfactory ability, 40-59 indicates that you may not do well as an entrepreneur, and anything below shows a definite lack of what it takes – you should probably not attempt it.

This is only an indicator – so use it to see if you show any aptitude toward running your own business. You might be able to thwart off headaches before you make the wrong choice. There are, of course, exceptions to all situations, but in general this seems to be a pretty fair test. Usually people end up being lucky when they succeed with no ability to work at it.

So, are you ready to venture out on your own, or do you need to go out and run a Job Search
